#1 Punda, Otrobanda, Scharloo
Punda, Otrobanda, and Scharloo are parts of the historic downtown area of Willemstad. The downtown area is decorated with colorful historic neo-classical buildings and a collection of magnificent artistic murals depicting the culture and flavor of the island. This colorful and majestic part of Curacao is located on the southeast part of the island and is comprised of basically two sides which are divided by the busy waterway of Saint Anna bay. Both sides are connected by the historic queen Emma pontoon footbridge which was originally built in the year 1886. From colorful historic buildings to new age artistic murals and famous forts easily accessible by foot, this is a must-visit when in Curaçao.
#2 Snorkel at the tugboat
For this next amazing activity, you will just need a sense of adventure and be able to swim to enjoy it. The snorkel and dive spot named the tugboat has been a local favorite spot to snorkel for a long time. Now, is your turn to discover this relic that has been frozen in time! This 30ft wreck is one of the most amazing places to snorkel on the island for its easy access and the colorful fish that have chosen this safe haven as their home. The starting point for this activity is located on the southeast side of the island, in the area of Caracas bay and Baya beach area.
#3 Chobolobo distillery Blue Curacao liqueur
The island of Curaçao is famous for its warm blue water and blue skies, but there is something else that is blue that also comes to mind when we are talking about Curaçao. This is of course the famous Blue Curaçao liqueur. The Chobolobo Blue Curaçao distillery is an activity you should do on your vacation. Get the chance to learn more about this liqueur and also try samples of this product. The distillery is easily accessible and located on the east side of the island in the neighborhood of Salina.
#4 Wild flamingoes
The western side of the island also offers a great array of fun activities that can be enjoyed by one and all. Visiting the native flamingoes at the salt lakes of Jan Kok and Willibrordus is one of these must-do activities. These historical salt lakes that were developed in the early 18th century are now home to the Caribbean's lesser flamingo community. These pink elegant birds can be spotted almost year-round feeding and coexisting with the rest of the wildlife of this area. Just keep in mind while visiting that this is their natural habitat so try to keep your distance, so they are not disturbed while doing what flamingoes do best.
#5 Santa Martha lookout point
Just when you thought that Curaçao could not surprise you anymore. Another great activity that we highly recommend is the scenic lookout point of Santa Martha. This picturesque view of the island is considered to be one of the most beautiful sceneries of the island. Located on the southwest side of the island in the area of Santa Martha, you will be able to experience this beautiful view overlooking the ocean and the mountainous side of the western part of beautiful Curaçao. This is considered to be the perfect place to unwind and take in the beauty of the island.
